Canvas Frequently Asked Questions

Where’s my online course?
  You can access your online course by logging in to Canvas (http://cloviscc.instructure.com).

What’s my Canvas username/password?
  It’s the same as Pathway Links to an external site..
     >>If you know your “C Number”, you can click here Links to an external site. to look up your info.
     >>If you don’t know your C Number, contact the Online Help Desk.

I can log in to Pathway, but not Canvas.  Why?
  You enrolled in the course today.
     >>It can take up to 5 hours after you enroll before you will have access in Canvas

  You’re not enrolled in any courses.
     >>Verify you’re still enrolled.  Make sure you were not “dropped for non-payment.”

I can log in to Canvas, but I don’t see my course. Why?
  Your course hasn’t started yet.
     >>See the Academic Calendar Links to an external site. for start dates
     >>Note: You may be enrolled in a 2^nd 8-week course, which doesn’t begin until the middle of a regular term.

  You are not enrolled in an online course.
     >>You may be enrolled in the in-person course.  Not all in-person courses use Canvas.  If your course uses Canvas, your instructor will let you know in-class on the first meeting. Contact your instructor if you have any questions.

  If the course has already started, you can click on the courses button in Canvas.

To view your courses, click the Courses link [1]. A menu will expand and display any current courses where you are enrolled [2]. This menu also displays any courses marked as favorites. If no courses are selected as favorites, the course list will display all current courses. If a course includes term dates, the name of the term will appear as part of the course listing.

To view a course, click the name of the course [3]. To customize your courses list Links to an external site. or view all your Canvas courses Links to an external site., click theAll Courses link [4].

 When I try to view some videos or files I just get a blank window.  What do I do?

If the title of the file is still on the top of the frame, then just click the title and it will open the link to the actual video or file that you can download or view through an external website.  If there is no title of the file or video then submit a Help Desk ticket by clicking the Help link in the upper-right hand corner of Canvas.

Why is Canvas running slow?  Why are some links not working?
   You are probably using an unsupported browser.  Try using an upgraded or different browser.  We recommend Chrome Links to an external site..
